My renewal came through from sky today and was more than I was expecting.

Spent few hours on the phone and Elephant came back alot cheaper at just over £600.

My only concern is I'n not sure if it to defiantly insure a FD2? He says on the system its a 2007+ 4 door Civic Type R Import.

Sounds right. As long as they know it is a Japanese import it can only be the one car.

I would also check that in the event of a total loss claim, that they would pay out what the car is worth (I know) baring in mind the FD2 carries a premium over the UK model.

I have read of companies paying out based on an equivalent UK model, which since there isn't really, they will pay out based on a 2007+ FN2, you could be out of pocket.

Good point. Will check with that first.

Also the other thing is Elephant don't replace like for like with modifications?

I can only say i've heard a lot of people over on JDMy0 are insured through elephant, but i dont know anyone else on their with an FD2 that's insured with them, it sounds like they have the right car just make sure the value of the car is covered etc.

My renewal quote just came through £100 more expensive than last year. I only tried Adrian Flux as an alternative but they couldn't come close to Sky's price so I bit the bullet and stuck with Sky. All mods are declared. I didn't consider Elephant. I may do next time.

Sky's reason for the premium increase is from all the claims over last winter with all the snow we had.

Tell me about it. My Sky renewal came through at over £800. Wasn't expecting that at all.

Might give them a call and see if they can match Elephants quote. Been with Sky for 3 years, good company to work with.

Time to shop for insurance renewal as well in a couple of weeks. I am through A-plan, but I will try Sky and Chris Knott (an advertiser here).

I've not tried elephant yet but Chris knotts and Sky wont insure me because of my age (22) :(

I'm currently insured with Directline, do you reckon they will insure me?

I'm with Bell who are part of the same group (EUI Ltd). They're the only insurers who give decent quotes for my age (23).

It is the correct car they have listed.

I did a quote with elephant and they wanted 3.9k... Guess I'm going to have to save my money for now.

Try- chis Knott or Sky!

I Tried and failed. They said too many young drivers have had accidents in this particular type of car forcing premiums to rise to ridiculous prices :(
