We’re pleased to announce the launch of Chris Knott Breakdown Cover to our car club/forum partners.

This high-quality, reliable cover is a fraction of the cost of RAC or AA cover and offers more benefits.

The price for full UK breakdown cover is £54.50 and major benefits include:
• Mechanical breakdown cover
• Recovery home or original destination if repairs cannot be carried out at roadside
• Accident or vandalism cover
• Fire, theft or attempted theft cover
• Flat battery, loss or breakage of keys cover
• Lack of fuel cover
• Accidental damage to tyres cover including punctures for motorcycles
• SMS text messaging service to mobile phone callers advising them of ETA of our operator
All the above benefits are available under the "Home Start" cover if the breakdown occurs at the Customer's home.

Please see http://www.ckinsurance.co.uk/docs/Chris ... akdown.pdf for full details.

Cover is available at your breakdown renewal or to run in-line with your Chris Knott car insurance renewal date, and is underwritten by Brit Insurance Ltd.

Hello, who actually does the roadside assistance and recovery and is the coverage and attendance times as good as the AA or RAC say?

I'm guessing the work will be sub'd out to local contractors. If so don't expect to get fixed by the 'driver' in the tow truck.

You'll just get recovered.

If not its good value and I'll be dropping the AA when my insurance is due.

Our vehicle recovery operators (VROs) are often small independant companies. We have in excess of 3,000 of these in our network and all are vetted prior to acceptance. Many offer specialist services and so we endeavour to utilise the appropriate VRO for the type of recovery required. All VROs are mechanics and almost 50% of breakdowns last year, were repaired at the roadside. Motorcycles are not recovered on flatbed vehicles but special motorcycle recovery trailers is just one example of ensuring that we utilise the correct equipment. Each VRO is required to work to preagreed service levels and all our customers are invited, following the breakdown, to complete a satisfaction survey in order that we can assess whether these standards are being maintained. Most recovery organisations now use independant VROs, as this is the most efficient resource in times of emergency.

Whilst we undertake to have a VRO with the driver within 2 hours, our average response time is 35 minutes. However, where vulnerable people such as lone females and children, disabled people, the elderly and infirm and people who require medication or special needs, then we do prioritise these above all others.
