Hi all
Just thought I'd post a bit of a build thread to help keep the forum up to date with some regular, albeit verbal rubbish content.
Bit of background on my car history first.
I used to own a Cosmic Grey Premier Edition EP3 which was mint all round! The thing had only covered 50k when I sold up. I had her for about 18 months until I need a JDM Honda in my life.
Enter the DC5. A vast improvement over the EP3 in most departments and a much much better looking car imo. I was the first owner and imported her through Torque GT in early 2015. She lasted slightly longer than the EP3 at 2 and a half years.
Being a full on JDM parts whore there was a selection of a few tasty parts on her. ARC intake and hardpipe, genuine Advan RSII wheels etc etc.
I stripped her back to stock to raise as many funds as possible for the newest purchase an FD2R
.
The quest started after a current owner Jon Reeves was kind enough to take me out in his. I was impressed to say the least and went about scouring the sparse market for an FD2R with the following points in mind:
Sub 70k miles
Black interior - MUST
CW or VBP
Andy Boyles daily came up for sale and ticked most of the boxes. A 300 mile round trip later and a hefty deposit was left on the car. It drove perfectly and was nice to see the Tein suspension very very compliant on our shite roads. Was good value money when considering the Genuine mods on the car, most of which id have done anyway and the oemparts thrown in.
A current mod list is as follows:
- MU56 GEN private number plate
- Mugen GP Forged wheels (18×7.5+48)
- Mugen front lip
- Mugen front grill
- Mugen airbox
- Mugen wind deflectors
- Tein Coilovers
- M&M shiftwire solid bushes
- not a mod as such but facelift oem lights.
The car it's self was an original Litchfield import so I was extremely keen to get it fully undersealed oroperly again as I noted small areas where the underseal was coming away. Pics from the 3 coat process below.
I shall update at a later date with any amendments but at the moment she's just getting detailed every now and then and tore around the local peak district.
Future plans include refurbishing the own wheels and moving on the Mugen GP wheels as they aren't to my taste, tinting the rear windows a tad, replace the quiet mugen air box, get a Catback and maybe flash pro and enjoy her.
Thanks for looking (sorry I threw a few pointless pics in there)
Chris
