Just to let you know, I got a great renewal from Greenlight - £369 fully comp, protected NCB and they also throw in track day cover at much reduced rates if you're so inclined. Looking back now, Sky Insurance's premium of £520 was a complete rip off

The fd2 is not listed on their online quotation form. Did you have any issues initially ?
Can I ask what your age is?

They seemed to know about the FD2 straight away and that it was the 4-door Jap import Type R (not the FN2 hatch).

As for my age, I'm the wrong side of 45 :)

Just manually enter it, they confirmed with me it was the 4 door type r. I can't fault them and i'm paying less than half of what Bell wanted with more mods and more perks!

I just got off the phone with Neil at Greenlight and he quoted me £540 which is alot better than Admiral's renewal at £890
and Prestige who can't even find my car on their system.....
Overall quick and excellent service all done within 8 minute phone call. Finally an insurace company that know their cars.
Thanks to Alex-B & Lunar Tick for the referral

Gave them a bell too to see if they could improve on Sky for me. Currently Sky are quoting £475 for me vs. Greenlight's £429 so not quite the massive saving you made Andy. I'm 41, no points (amazingly) and the car is garaged. All mods declared. So, swings and roundabouts I guess.

Sky price matched so I've stayed with them. Nice to have another competitive broker to bounce the quote off though.

Thanks chaps.

Hi,

I assume our price was competitive when you took the policy with us?

Are there any changes in your details?

Thanks

I tried to haggle with you and your quote was marginally better than Chris Knott but I didn't get a quote from Greenlight last time around as I wasn't aware they covered imports. However, even if you could have beaten Greenlight's quote of £369 this year (I doubt it), I still wouldn't insure with Sky as you don't provide any sort of track day cover

Sky have also lost my custom this month- my renewal was £488 and like for like with slightly better incentives as per Andy's post came back at £390 before I even paid this was dropped to £374 as I had owned the car for 5 years. I was another who did not know of Greenlight and have been bouncing between sky and Chris Knott the last 4 years. Sky didn't even try to get my custom back after I told them my cost.
Restricted to 5k per year and standard £250 excess, Excellent service, really impressed and thanks Neil :hello:

Hi,

we'll always do our best on price so please do feel free to check back at any time. We are a broker, whilst we do not dictate the rates, we'll ways speak to our underwriters of a more competitive rate comes to light.

Sky Insurance Trackday cover here, this was launched last month and is proving very popular already:

I would only ever call sky insurance as a last measure. They are not interested in type r's they said so themselves.. Anyways for my input try privilege me and the wife fully comp and NCB protected around £440,

Who on Earth told you we were not interested in Type R's? We have hundreds of Honda Type R's on our books...

Just for balance, I've insured my DC2 and my FD2 through Sky with no hassles and with competitive quotes.

I'll shop around this year again and see how it turns out. ;)

Erm your trusty sales guy on the phone when i called for a quote last year. he gave me the speech that all type Rs are boy racers and therefore crash more often. they gave me the stupid price of 1400 pounds. they wouldnt price match nothing he also said that the other insurance companies thought the same... which turned out to be untrue as i got for 500 -600 pounds.

i never bothered calling them this year for obvious reasons.
