rotrex race fd2

Nice work. How's the day to day drivability with that clutch?

If you don't mind disclosing the fitted price, I'd love to hear it, pm if you want, not to worry if you don't. ;)

its a tiny bit heavier on the pedal but you get used to it straight away. the main thing you notice is a bit of judder when your pulling off with your wheels turned, but ive been told this get better as it wears in.
to be honest i was prepared for it to be a lot worse and the reality is i can hardly tell the difference.

Great results there. Are your engine internals still stock? I'm not sure I'd be happy to run that sort of power if that's the case. Any reason for going for the race setup (hence binning the air con)?

I'm still undecided to go SC (Rotrex) just yet. Want to enjoy a few other mods before going there. Very tempting though.

yes stock engine, a normal k20 is safe to run about 12 psi so ive been told. tts and others have said the fd2 has better internals so can run a little more boost. the race kit has better torque due to shorter intercooler piping and because it sits where the aircon was stays cooler aswell , another plus is you get less chance of belt slipping with the race kit. i plan to get it forged next year when my bank balance recovers from this.
it will be able to run over 20 psi when forged and can produce 550 bhp or more. tts say they have hit 650 bhp a blue fd2 think its johnndm's car but could be mistaken.
its fast enough for me as but would like it forged for peace of mind, cant use 1st or 2nd it just spins.
i just had a little play with a focus rs that sounded like it had been tuned a bit and i left it standing. happy days

Cool. Sounds like the race kit is the way to go and is worth sacrificing the A/C. Do you lose any low-revs engine pick-up while the SC gets going or is it pretty much like stock response?

Yeah, JohnJDM's is a K24 as well so makes crazy power. He's already got forged internals but is still to get sleeves put in for extra safety. I can't tempt him on track until he's got that done.

u get more power all round, you can feel the torque increase from as little as 1200 rpm. anything over 1/3rd throttle will activate vtec from 2500 rpm

had 3 little sessions on cadwell at modified live on saturday. usually a fan of open pitlane but at cadwell sessions seem to work well because of the tight layout of the circuit ? any way had probably the best session ever , the car was untouchable an absolute hooligan on track. ive done caddy before in dc5 but in the fd it was way more a buzz with the boost. the fd2 is so forgiving and neutral in handling it makes easy work on a very technical circuit. wanted to take it easy out there so set my boost warning at12 psi which meant i was shifting around 7000 rpm and when needed i would rev to 8500 hitting 14 psi. im needing better cooling for water and oil and bigger brakes will be on the shopping list soon. i didnt have no fade as i changed fluid last week but i wasnt too heavy with the late braking either. runing on ad08r's at 27 front and 24 rear once warmed up gave loads of confidence. learnt so much from the day from the driving and talking to the drivers afterwards it was an absolute belter of a day. got a chance to speak to the race mad jprocter with his highly strung fd time attack car. dude if i had the cash id be doing the same thing with mine its the best drug ever. might see you at silverstone.
any way link to my last sesh of the day , wasate getting to the grid and started last overtook 15 cars including a drag race down the main straight with a bmw m5 and won. so anyone wondering how a rotrex fd2 goes on track taking it easy here is your answer. enjoy.

little update on my charger. I've not been happy with an issue of the conversion since i picked it up. i did a drag day at york last month and the problem stood out more there than on track. basically the car felt like it had lag on gearshifts. it was only slight but it was taking all the momentum away from acceleration. to cut a long story short i went back to tts and had an afternoon with some live mapping.
the problem was the cam angles were set too low on part/low throttle , the lag was caused by them having to swing from say 0 to 80 degrees every time i changed gear. once adjusted all is well , its like a different car altogether.
now im very happy with it but on the flip side it should have been like this from the start, I've done a few track days and as good as they were they would have been even better if it was running this way.
anyway looking forward to next year and getting some good events in, such a rush to drive now scalped an m3 on the way home so bad i felt sorry for him.

I'd still go somewhere reputable and get the map checked. TTS don't have a good reputation when it comes to mapping.

heard a lot of good things about romain, how is he with rotrex mapping? id of thought tts should know what they are doing as they tune some serious stuff

He's very good. He did Ben's Rotrex DC5 and his JRSC FD2.

Hi Tom. Romain also does all JohnJDM's mapping work on his K24 Rotrex monster. As soon as he has the mechanical work done by TTS he drives straight to Romain / EuroSpec for the mapping.

looking like a trip to romains in order. especially after finding this abomination, im almost in disbelief

had to replace the knock sensor and dropped a nut in the bay, so i ended up taking the bumper off and a boost pipe to check it hadn't fell anywhere near the charger and could not believe my eyes.

i emailed tts about this and he can't seem to understand that this has been done at his workshop and mapped like this with a potential boost leak and the air flow restriction it may cause. pondering my next move in light of all this

That's bad :( Look on the bright side though - a properly fitting pipe is probably gonna get you another 25 brake :)

That damage can only be done by someone or before fitting no way has that been done while on the car what a shocker at least you seen it now and can be fixed.
